Nathan I'm in utter shock. You were more than just a nephew to me. We grew up together like siblings. I have so many memories with you in them. You were loved by many and will never be forgotten. I love you forever Nathan!

Nathan, thank you for being part of my team at RAA. You were a valuable member of our team and we all miss you very much. The shop is not and will not be the same without you. Each time I open the shop in the morning it is hard to not see you there behind the desk. I remember when you first came to the shop and helped us with the grand opening, you were so eager to help with anything we needed and just jumped right in. I never worried about the shop when I couldn't be there because I knew you had it all under control. So many customers have reached out to say how helpful you were and made this shopping a great experience. I have also had many companies who met you at events give you nothing but praise. I wish I had shared more of these comments with you, I wish I had told you more how appreciative I was of you. I hope you knew. I am happy to have met you and worked with you.

There are never any magical words or perfect actions that anyone can say or do that will make any of you feel better, or wash away your grief. Your pain is your own, it belongs to you and no one can take it from you. You have lost, and a part of you will never be the same, and that is ok. I am terribly sorry for your loss. I knew Nathan what feels like a lifetime ago. We served in Iraq together. It would be a lie to say that I knew Nathan well, but I like to think that there were times when I saw him magnificent. He was a good man. We are all lesser for his absence.

The Dash
by Linda Ellis

"I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend

He referred to the dates on his tombstone
From the beginning to the end

He noted that first came the date of his birth
And spoke the following date with tears,

But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years

For that dash represents all the time
That he spent alive on earth.

And now only those who loved him
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,

What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?

For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what’s true and real

And always try to understand
The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more

And love the people in our lives
Like we’ve never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile

Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life’s actions to rehash

Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?"

"The greatest honor in this life is to do something outside of yourself, goodwill and kindness for a stranger you have never met...for the thanks that you will never get."

Thank you for doing exactly that. You were a good man who did so much for others.

Rest easy, Nathan.

Nate had many friends. He made friends easily, because he was genuine, fun loving and generous. He was fierce as an ally and had your six at a moment's notice. He was the kind of man and friend you could call yourself lucky to have in your life. We share in your pain and grief, but are so grateful to have had him in our lives.

June 2, 2017 3:32 PM

Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened.

Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.

Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just round the corner.

All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
