Mr. Dennis Alvin Townsend, 74, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Dennis was born in Cumberland County on October 8, 1941, son to the late Dennis Marvin Townsend and Bonnie Kate Dean Townsend. Dennis served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator before retiring.

He is survived by his loving wife, Genene Townsend of the home; a son, Denny Townsend of Mooresville; daughters, Tishia Henley of Hope Mills and Vickie Harter of Texas; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 2:00-3:00 PM Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28304.

Funeral services with Military Honors will begin at 3:00 PM following the visitation with Rev. Raymond Myrick officiating.

Burial will be private.
