SFC Steven Richard Gamble (Retired)

SFC Steven Richard Gamble, (Retired), passed peacefully into the arms of his loving Savior on Monday August 16 at Moore Regional Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

Steven was born on Jan 19, 1958, in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the son of Richard Hobert Gamble and the late Harriet Leithed. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his step mother Joyce Gamble.

Steve served 22 years in the U. S.  Army in the intelligence field. After he retired, he continued to serve his country by working as a contractor on Ft. Bragg. He was very active in his church serving in many different ways. He always had a smile, a hug or a hand shake for anyone. One of his favorite places to serve was in the kitchen on Saturday nights for Café Rock and cooking breakfast for the monthly men’s breakfast. He has always been a behind the scenes kind of guy, making sure that things got done and or helping someone improve or learn a new skill or improving a skill.

Steve is survived by his wife of 41 years, Wendy Gamble; daughter, Sarah Everts and husband Brad; granddaughter, Danica; daughter, Katherine Gibson and husband Ken; grandson, Jackson; daughter, Sharon and son, Richard. He is also survived by his father Richard, brother David and wife Cookie, brother Tim and Sister Ruth as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 5:15 pm at RockFish Church. 9949 Fayetteville Rd. Raeford, NC.

The service will be live streamed on the RockFish Church Facebook page and the RockFish Church youtube channel.
