Richard Tindall Obituary

Richard Dale Tindall, 74, born February 19, 1948 of Fayetteville passed away suddenly on June 20, 2022.

Born in Herring, IL, to Rose-Ella and Ernest Tindall, Richard grew up in a small town until he became a world traveler with his many years in the United States Army. Richard had known his wife, Joyce, ever since they were children, but it was not until 1968—when Richard enlisted in the military and left for basic training—that Joyce felt compelled to write that she missed and loved him. His reply was, “I am glad you came around to my way of thinking,” and the two married shortly after completing basic training on June 29, 1968. Deploying to the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart, Richard continued to serve for twenty more eventful years (taking his wife and two children, Stephanie and Brad, all over the world during his career) before retiring from active duty to work full-time for the United States Postal Service. Richard also obtained his real estate license and remained an active real estate agent until his passing.

Richard was known for being the one anyone could call on. He never met a stranger, and he could make anyone laugh with his stories. With a heart of gold, if you needed him to be there for you, his reply was always, ‟Let me get my shoes on.”

Richard is survived by his wife, Joyce Tindall of Fayetteville, NC; his daughter, Stephanie and partner, Richard, of Red Springs, NC; his son, Brad, and wife, Carol, of Ocean Isle, NC; his granddaughter, Heather, and husband, Channing, along with their future great grandchild, of Olympia, WA; and his grandson Kristoffer of Fayetteville, NC.

The family humbly requests that, in lieu of flowers, to please donate to a preferred Veterans charity.
In his words, ‟Have you heard the story about an old man…”
