MSG Robert Fees Obituary

MSG Robert Fees, 41, passed away on November 11, 2021, in Raeford, NC. He was born on April 1, 1980, in Deadwood, SD to Randy Fees and Pamela Fees (Klaudt).

Robert grew up in Sturgis, SD. He graduated from Sturgis Brown High School in Sturgis, SD in 1998. During his High School years, he was actively involved in rodeo competing in Saddle Bronc Riding and Bareback Riding.

Robert joined the Army in October 2002 and served for 19 years. While in the Army MSG Fees did 3 tours in Iraq and earned many awards and decorations to include: Meritorious Service Medal (2 award), Army Commendation Medal ( 7th award), Army Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Citation Award,  Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation (2nd Award), Army Good Conduct (6th award), National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with One Silver Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3rd award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd award), Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Driver and Mechanics Badge.

MSG Fees attended Liberty University working towards achieving a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He was an avid Green Bay Packers, Detroit Redwings, Carolina Hurricanes, and Kevin Harvick fan, coached youth hockey for 2 years for the Colorado Rampage and several years for the Cape Fear Warriors, and had a passion for getting kids involved in hockey and was actively involved in the USA Hockey First Goal program. Robert was also actively involved with Dawg Nation Hockey Foundation and assisted in founding the Colorado Springs Dawgs. He loved riding his motorcycle, was his son’s number one hockey fan, and spent hours snuggled up watching horror movies with his daughter.

Robert married Megan Wald in 2007 in Rapid City, SD. They were happily married for 14 years. Robert and Megan had two children together. Rylan was born in 2008 in Fort Bragg, NC. Reagan was born in 2012 in Fort Bragg, NC. The family spent the majority of their years together in NC where Robert served at Fort Bragg and 3 years in Colorado where he served at Fort Carson.

Robert is survived by his wife, Megan Fees; his son, Rylan Fees; and his daughter, Reagan Fees, all of the home; his father, Randy Fees, of Rawlins, WY; his mother, Pam Klaudt (John), of Black Hawk, SD; his brother, Wendell Fees (Amanda), of Tilford, SD; several nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles; several cousins; and a host of extended family members and friends. 

Visitation will be 10:00AM – 11:00 AM Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the All-American Chapel, 7242 Ardennes St. Fort Bragg, NC 28310.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the All-American Chapel.
