Livingston Green, Jr. Obituary

Livingston “Libby” Green, Jr., was born in New York City on July 25, 1957 to the late Livingston Stafford Green and Ira Green. Libby graduated from Brandeis High School in New York City. He attended Housatonic College in Connecticut where he received a basketball scholarship. He played football for a short period of time in college but decided basketball was the sport for him. So much so, that he enrolled his children into basketball programs at the local YMCA where he took them to play in tournaments every weekend. Libby worked a few jobs before he became a plumber. One job that he often reminisced about was working a Pepsi Truck route with his then father-in-law, Jimmy. Libby relocated to Fayetteville, NC from New York City in the late 1990’s and continued to work in the field of plumbing for close to forty years. He put his heart and soul into his profession and gained many certifications throughout his career.

Libby never met a stranger. Whoever he encountered, he always joked and made it his mission to make them laugh. His favorite pastime was his frequent trips to “Wally World.” He enjoyed his friends, coworkers and people in general. He was always willing to help others. Aside from sports, Lib enjoyed music and would often vibe of his favorite tacks by The Floaters, Float On. Libby spent a little time golfing and fishing but mostly enjoying the time he spent with his family.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of  his children; Anthony Lance, Livingston III, Brandon, Katrina, Candace, Tichina and Naasir; three grandchildren, Ameyah, Brandon Jr., and Kandence; his two sisters, Belinda Tatum (Alexander) and Edith Joseph-Campbell (Kenville); nieces, Shaneen, Gwendolyn and  Crystal; nephews Neville and Tarik. Libby is treasured and remembered by Annette Smalls, his life partner over thirty years, best friend and mother of his last two children.

There are many other people who have shared his journey of life to include former wife, Denise Green, the mother of his first five children, his Corvias family where he worked for the past seventeen years, and a host of relatives and friends. He touched many lives in a special way and will truly be missed.
