Lisa Ann (Marquez) Clare

June 16, 1971 — September 19, 2020

Fayetteville

CLARE, Lisa Ann (Marquez), age 49, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 19, 2020. Lisa is survived by her mother, Kimberlee Mills and step-father, Rick Mills; sister, Veronica Cade (Michael); brothers, Raymond Weldon, Jason Mills, and Roberto Marquez; uncle, Wilfredo Tarectecan; nieces, Jessica Spangler and Jasmine (Heaven) Marquez; several great-nieces and nephew; and her beloved dog, Riddick. She is preceded by her grandparents, Dino and Luisa Tarectecan.

Lisa joined the U.S. Army in August 1992 and honorably discharged January 2014. Serving in the Army provided Lisa with great pride and room to excel with her free spirit. During her time in the Army, she served in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Iraq, and Korea, and received the following awards: Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal (8th Award); Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award); Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award); Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3rd Award); and Gold Recruiter Badge with Three Star Sapphires. Lisa graduated from Campbell University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and was working towards a master’s degree in Liberal Arts and Passionate World Travel.

Although Lisa’s pride and joy was her big baby, Riddick, the one thing that really made her the happiest was traveling the world with her latest stop having been Scotland. She enjoyed life to the fullest and always said what was on her mind. She was a spiritual woman and when she loved, she loved with all her heart. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2020, followed by a Prayer Service from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm to be held at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church, 357 N. Cool Springs St., Fayetteville, N.C., with Father Michael Coveyou, officiating. Due to COVID, the family asks that everyone please adhere to the church’s safety requirements by wearing your mask upon entering the building and maintain appropriate distancing.

Burial will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 25250 State Highway H, Waynesville, MO with military honors. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, let us all honor her by making a donation to her ASPCA memorial campaign at https://secure.aspca.org/team/Lisa-Clare-memorial-campaign
