Linwood Cummings

MSG Linwood Cummings, (Retired), 75, of 7313 Southgate Road, Fayetteville, died Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Hoke Campus.

Mr. Cummings was a retired Master Sergeant with the US Army who served his country for 26 years. He was most recently a Facility Manager for General Dynamics. Mr. Cummings is preceded in death by his mother Annie Mae Lowery; sister, Annie Ree Hassell; and daughter, Patti Lynn Cummings.

He is survived by his life partner Patsy M. Carpenter, of Fayetteville; his ex-wife, Wanell Cummings; 2 sisters, Linda Jones of Lumberton, Lois Ann (and Pete) Haggins of Lumberton; 7 children, Charles Cummings (and Tina) of Hamlet, Johnnie Faye Crosby of Brunswick, GA, Kristi D. (and John) Becker of Hickory, Chris L. Cummings of Fayetteville, Paul M. (and Jennifer) Cummings of Fort Campbell, KY, Jordan E. Hupp of Fayetteville, Jared Dalton (and Kaylenna) Hupp of Fayetteville; 13 grandchildren, Misty Benson, Lori Cooke, Brandy Cummings, Dakota Cummings, Laylah Cummings, Kevin Cody Smiley, John Wesley Smiley, Anthony Perry, Madison Theriot, Cerrona Becker, Ryan Klack, Tatum Cummings, Maddox Cummings; 11 great-grandchildren, Jaxon Cooke, Colton Cooke, Bella Cummings, Calie Cummings, Carlee Cummings, Leila Klack, John Smiley Jr., Fiona Perry, Carson Perry, Matthew Perry, Trent Perry. He was a surrogate Dad and Papa to many more.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM-12:30 PM, Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.

Funeral services will begin at 12:30 PM, following the visitation. Live Stream will be available at www.lafayettefh.com.

Burial with Military Honors will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park West, 6710 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.
