SPC Joshua Allen Burts, 25, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
SPC Burts was born in Brazoria County, TX on August 21, 1994, son to Garth Allen Burts and Ethel Evelyn Burke Hart. He is preceded in death by his father.
SPC Joshua Burts was a native of Houston, TX. He enlisted in the United States Army in November 2017, attending Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC and Advanced Individual Training as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic at Fort Lee, VA.
In May of 2018, SPC Burts reported to Fort Bragg, NC, and was assigned to Headquarters Support Company, 122nd Aviation Support Battalion. He was well loved among his peers in the Motorpool and throughout the Battalion. He was motivated, eager to hone his skills in his profession, but always quick with a joke or funny comment. His devotion to his unit and his country led him to be placed on the Outload Support Team which directly impacted the success of Task Force Saber in January 2020.
His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.
He is survived by his wife, Alexandria Burts; mother-in-law, Serena Briles; mother, Evelyn Hart; sisters, Ashley Garza and Stacey Duke; aunt Lecia Rodgers and uncle Steve Rodgers; uncle Dennis and Aunt Cindy.
A Celebration of Life service with Military Honors will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 12, 2020 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford, NC 28304 with Chaplain (CPT) Joshua Shevel officiating.
