John McNatt Gillis

John McNatt Gillis, Jr., 77, died of cancer Wednesday, July 22, 2020 surrounded by family.

Son of J. McN. (Mack) and Mary Stewart Gillis, he was born April 9, 1943 in Fayetteville. He earned degrees from NC State University and University of Southern California, served in the US Air Force, and worked in the defense industry. Since returning to Fayetteville in 1992, he worked in home building, development, and real estate.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Folger Gillis, and his three children: son John III, wife Cathy, and sons Reilly and CJ of Colorado Springs, CO; son Andrew of Fayetteville; and daughter Margaret Gillis and husband Wayne Robertson of Napa, CA. He is also survived by his siblings Jim Gillis, Jane Turner, and Joe Gillis of Fayetteville.

A private family service was held at Galatia Presbyterian Church.
