John Robert Covington

John Robert Covington, 70, passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

John was born in Troy, NC on July 22, 1950, son to the late Hubert Linder Covington Sr. and Margaret Henderson Covington. John graduated High School from Fayetteville Senior High School and attended and graduated with a Bachelors degree from UNC Chapel Hill. He joined the US Coast Guard Auxiliary in 1989 and retired in 2015 after 26 years of service. He worked with CSX Rail Road and then worked as a Fire Fighter with the City of Fayetteville before retirement. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Sheila E. Covington.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Covington of the home; 2 sons, Christopher D. Covington and his wife Daria, of Bono, AR, Brenton E. Covington and his wife Robyn, of Hope Mills, NC; a brother, Hubert L. Covington Jr., of Lumberton, NC; 4 grandchildren, Claire E. Covington, Lincoln A. Covington, Hailey M. Covington and Tiberius E. Covington.

A Celebration of Life service will be held, 3:00 P.M. Monday, March 15, 2021 at Family Community Baptist Church, 3915 Camden Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28306 with Pastor Roy Arrington officiating.
