Elvera Ruffin-Turner Obituary

PO2 Elvera Mae Ruffin-Turner, 60, of Fayetteville, NC died on Sunday, April 3, 2022.

Elvera was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Chesterfield Ruffin and Helen Delzora Graham, on December 1, 1961. She is a member of The Veterans Club, enjoyed doing arts and crafts and making jewelry.

PO2 Ruffin-Turner enlisted in the US Navy on June 1, 1981 in Baltimore, MD. While serving her country for more than 10 years, PO2 Ruffin-Turner earned the following decorations and awards: National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Award (2nd), Overseas Service Ribbon, Coast Guard Special Operations Service Ribbon.

Elvera is preceded in death by her brother, John Ray Ruffin; and her sisters, Mildred Johnson and Janis Ruffin

She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Turner, of Norfolk, VA; her son, Lindsay D Turner, of Virginia Beach, VA; her four daughters, Leslie N. Reddman, of CT, Alexandria B. Ruffin, of Clayton, NC, Ayana R. Ruffin, of Raleigh, NC, and Myriah K. Powell Ruffin, of Fayetteville, NC; four brothers, Kenneth Graham, of Tarboro, NC, Michael Ruffin, of MD, Clayton Cowan, of Philadelphia, PA, Martin Cure, and Daryl Martin; six sisters, Lynnette Ruffin, of Raleigh, NC, Jacqueline Johnson-Green, of Baltimore, MD, Geraline Ruffin, of Baltimore, MD, Cynthia Bernadette Preston, of Raleigh, NC, Bell Griffin of MD, and Vernetta Madison; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends.

A Memorial Service is planned for a later date and time.
