Domingo Antonio Tavarez Rodriguez

MSG Domingo Antonio Tavarez Rodriguez, (Retired), 53, of Fayetteville passed away Friday, April 28, 2023.

Domingo was born in the Dominican Republic on June 4, 1969 to Mario Julio Tavarez and Grecia Mercedes Rodriguez. He worked in the Dominican Republic for the National Department of Investigations and was part of the Puerto Rico National Guard. He then joined the US Army and served for almost 22 years that included tours to Iraq and Afghanistan. He retired in 2018 from the US Army and began working for the Fayetteville Police Department. Along with his father, he is preceded in death by a brother, Joan Manuel Remigio Rodriguez.

MSG Tavarez Rodriguez served with the upmost Honor and received the following awards during his Military career: the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Joint Service Commendation Medal, (2nd Award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, (3rd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal, (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal, (2nd Award), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/ 2 Campaign Stars, Humanitarian Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal W/ 2 Campaign Stars, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Service Ribbon, (2nd Award), NATO Medal, Sapper Tab, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge

He is survived by his son, Joseph Alexander Tavarez of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Ashley Marit Tavarez Castro of Florida, Carol Nathalie Tavarez Castro of Chicago, Il. and Jatna Johana Tavarez Lizarazo of Colombia; siblings, Jeannette Hernandez, Delfin Enrique Rodriguez, Luz Andrea Tavarez, Teolinda Tavarez, Juan Tavarez, Raul Tavarez, Irma Tavarez, Celeste Tavarez, Jorge Tavarez, Cesar Tavarez, Yosmery Tavarez, Iris Tavares and many extended family members.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 6, 2023 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304. Visitation will be 2 hours before the service at the Funeral Home.
