1SG Larry James Morris (Ret)

1SG Larry James Morris, (Retired), 76, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 peacefully in his home.

Larry was born in Spartanburg, SC on August 23, 1945, son to the late Larry Glover Morris and Brazella Lyles Morris. Larry joined the US Army in 1968 and obtained the rank of 1SG before retirement in 1994. Larry Morris was a man of few words so when he spoke it was intentional, impactful and of substance. First Sergeant Larry Morris was an outstanding Soldier, leader, and friend. He always led from the front and never asked anyone to do anything he wouldn’t. He epitomized what it meant to do one’s duty, in every aspect of his life. He was a man of character who truly let his actions speak for themselves. He cared deeply for his family and demonstrated this by always putting others needs above his own. Larry was forever setting examples on being a humble responsible man of integrity. 1SG Morris will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on through his family and friends. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Daniel Morris and Cornell Morris.

He is survived by his wife, Carla Denise Morris of Fayetteville; sons, James Morris of Madison, MS, Reginald Morris and his husband, Mark Rhodes of Marietta, GA, Kevin Pizarro of Austin, TX, Andre Williams and wife Angela of Easley, SC and Damien Jamel Morris of Fayetteville; daughters, Dena Dawkins of Gaffney, SC, Linda Wolfe and her husband, Terry of El Paso, TX; sisters, Shirleen Dawkins and husband Garfield of Greer, SC, Dorothy Ann Morris Harris of Gastonia NC and Dorothy Grayson of Greer, SC; 23 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and extended family members.

Visitation will be 12:00 Noon – 1:00 PM Saturday, April 2, 2002 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 2, 2022 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.

Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd, Fort Bragg, NC 28301.
