Wyona Joyce Sapp Secrest Passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at the age of 86, in her home in Fayetteville, NC, with her husband Benjamin Secrest by her side.
Preceded by Mother, Lucille Brown Sapp; Father, James Granderson Sapp; and Son, Gregory Coleman Milby
Survived by her husband of 53 years, Benjamin Secrest of Fayetteville, Son Brad Secrest and his husband Mathew Caylor of Hope Mills, Daughter Heidi Plank and her husband Stanley Plank III of Raeford, Sisters Ruby and Mary Wilson and Brother Mike Sapp and wife Alicia Sapp all of Campbellsville, KY, Grandsons Tyler Plank of Spring Lake and Aaron Plank of Hope Mills and Great Granddaughter Iris Plank of Spring Lake, nieces and nephews all over.
Wyona was a devout Christian. She loved her family and was greatly admired. She had a wonderful life full of love and family. Wyona was ready to give anything to anyone in need. She loved life, lived it to its fullest. She enjoyed spending time with her grandsons and family. We cannot say enough about how she just lit up every room she came into.
Our whole family is super appreciative of all that we’ve learned, witnessed and got to love in our Mama/Nana/Great Nana. She will be missed desperately and loved even more!!
Dad, we cannot say enough about how much we love and appreciate you for taking care of mom and all of us. You are so tough and ready to do anything to help out. Your time has come to be taken care of too. You deserve the best care, like momma had. Brad and I will be able to care for you as long as possible.
Too many caregivers do not get enough recognition. Dad and I want to thank my Brother - Brad Secrest for providing love and care, cleaning, feeding both mom and dad every day, 7 days a week for a couple years. I cannot express how much I appreciate you, Brad, and love having you much closer. You are most appreciated for all you have done.
I want to name Momma's help she received while being bedbound and for a couple of years prior. Life St. Joseph’s was able to accept Momma into the center as a family member. She would brighten up everyone’s day with a big smile, a little giggle and a wave. After she became bedbound, Mrs. Tammy Robinson came over in the mornings and went above and beyond with taking care of momma, feeding her, giving her her medicine, making sure she had something to drink and cared for her while in bed. Mrs. Tammy loved momma and daddy, she helped in so many ways, cleaned up the house, washed dishes, washed clothes, she was just unstoppable.
We can’t forget Gina Kay for helping on the weekends and any time I called. You are so well appreciated by our family! We thank you from the bottoms of our hearts for all the showing up you did. Maintaining such a clean home for our mom and dad and keeping momma and dad fed, cleaned and kept up with their medications.
