With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we share the passing of Veronica R. Wright, 62, of Fayetteville.
Veronica was born in Columbia, SC on June 5, 1962, daughter to late Ernest and Willie Mae Steel Wright. She joined the United States Army in 1986, serving faithfully until 1993.
After her dedicated service, she continued her work in the medical field as an EMT with Fort Bragg Ambulance Service for 37 years until her retirement. Veronica loved having fun, socializing, hanging out with friends and family, Art and Painting. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
For her honorable and dedicated service, Veronica received the following awards and decorations: Army Service Ribbon, Army Lapel Button, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Service Star-3. Kuwait Liberation Medal, (Saudi Arabia), Oversees Service Ribbon, M16 Marksman Badge, Army Good Conduct Medal, 2nd Award, Army Achievement Medal and the NCO Professional Development Ribbon (2),
Left to cherish her memory is her wife, Erica Sanders of the home; a brother, Antony and his wife Rhonda Portee, of Jacksonville, FL, aunts, Jeanette. W. (Frank) McBride, Barbra W. Rearden, Sabrina Wright, Mary Wright, and Audrey Wright; uncles, James (Lahunta), Wright, Stanley Wright, Herbert Toliver all of Colombia SC, her mother-in-law, Lottie Watters and many cousins, nieces, nephews, more aunts and uncles whom all loved and adored her.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparent’s, Ernest and Ruth Wright Sr. of Colombia SC
Funeral Services with Military Honors will be 10:00 AM, Monday, February 23, 2026 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd, Spring Lake, NC 28390.
