Staff Sergeant Terriquis Rodney McKay, born on 18 May 1996, passed away on 11 February 2026, at the age of 29. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, devotion, and service to both his family and his country. Terriquis lived his life with purpose, humility, and a steadfast commitment to those he loved and those he served beside.
Terriquis grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina, surrounded by a close and loving family who shaped the strong, compassionate man he became. He was a devoted husband to Giolany McKay, and a proud father to their two sons, Luca (4) and Enzo (2). His family was the center of his world, and he embraced fatherhood with a gentle strength, a protective heart, and a deep love that will continue to guide his children throughout their lives.
He is survived by his father, Cedric Brooks, and his mother, Tara Brooks. Terriquis is also cherished by his grandparents, Rodney and Brenda McKay, who played a significant role in his upbringing. He was blessed with good parents, Wanda and Carl Walker, whose guidance and support were deeply meaningful to him. He is further survived by his aunt, Kara McKay; his cousin, Kiki Jackson; and a circle of close friends who were like family: Johnathan Carte, Cristian Carte, Pastor Ronnie Moore, and Chantilla Pichon.
Terriquis answered the call to serve his nation with distinction. He began his military career in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably for three years as a Helicopter Mechanic. His dedication, technical skill, and reliability made him an essential part of his unit and a trusted guardian of the aircraft that carried his fellow Marines.
Driven by a continued desire to serve, Terriquis later joined the United States Army, where he served for three years as a Cargo Specialist. In this role, he ensured mission readiness and operational success through his precision, discipline, and unwavering work ethic. His service reflected the highest values of the Armed Forces—duty, honor, and commitment.
Terriquis will be remembered for his quiet leadership, his loyalty, and the kindness he extended to everyone around him. His presence brought strength to his family, pride to his military community, and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
