SFC Douglas William Carroll, 40, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 in his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Douglas was born in Orlando, Florida on July 14, 1981, son to David Wayne Carroll and Shirley Ann Maness. SFC Carroll joined the US Army on April 12, 2001 and completed his journey Sunday, January 30th. He served with compassion, always giving his all to his soldiers and the US Army. His tours included multiple deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. His love for the US Army extended to his family and children. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on through his Military family and his children.
SFC Carroll served with the utmost distinction and received the following awards during his Military Career: Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal, (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, (3th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal, (6th Award), Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/Bronze Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal w/Bronze Service Star, 3 Arrowhead, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, (4), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Driver & Mechanic Badge, Combat and Special Skill Badge, (Marksmanship), Overseas Service Bar, (5).
SFC Carroll is survived by his wife, Jessica Rivas of Linden, NC; father, David Wayne Carroll of Aiken, SC; mother, Shirley Ann Maness of Linden, NC; sons, William Rivas Carroll, Ryan Rivas Carroll, Bradley Rivas Carroll and Jonathan Stewart Jr., all of Linden, NC; daughters, Jennifer Rivas Carroll, Laura Rivas Carroll, both of Linden and Kaylee Carroll of New York; a sister, Crystal Ann Carroll of Aiken, SC; his grandmother, Jennie Maness of Linden and a host of extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, William Maness, Wayne & Lola Carroll, and a great grandmother, Laura Bailey.
Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM, Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Main Post Chapel, Fort Bragg, NC with Pastor Glenn Lucas and Chaplain (CPT) Lemuel Pearsall officiating
Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will follow at 2:00 PM in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd. Fort Bragg, NC 28310.
