Robert William Taffe, 86 of Fayetteville, North Carolina, peacefully passed away on November 24, 2025. He was born on May 2, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA. Dad served his Country for 37 years. For 27 of those years, he served in the US Military: 3 of those years he was a U.S. Marine and then enlisted in the US Army after serving 1 year as a Corrections Officer at Holmsberg Prison.
During his time in the service Robert taught the skills of skydiving and scuba to new recruits. Robert also was an instructor at West Point Military Academy, training future officers of the United States Armed Services.
Robert served in the US Army form 1962 until he retired with the Rank of Sgt. First Class. At Robert’s retirement from US Special Forces he was celebrated as “the best and crustiest S 4” by the people that served with him. After serving in the military, he went on to Supervise at the United States Postal Service in Fayetteville, North Carolina, for an additional ten years.
Dad’s interests helped define who he was. A steadfast Catholic, he was up every morning reading his Bible and saying the Rosary. A world traveler, he enjoyed visiting different countries and observing their architecture and culture. He enjoyed reading, music, and challenging games on the computer, something he instilled in his children, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.
