Preston Lee Garris McKinnon

Preston Lee Garris McKinnon, 84, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025 in Cape Fear Valley Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn, NC.

Preston was born on August 12, 1941 son to the late Preston McKinnon Sr. and Annie Pearl McNair McKinnon. At an early age , Preston left home to follow his dreams of becoming an R&B Singer. He became a recording artist releasing several recordings. He later worked for many years as a Truck Driver and Glass Installer for Royal Glass and Millwork in Englewood New Jersey until his retirement. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Lillian McKinnon and a grandson, Jonathan Eric DiNardo.

He is survived by his children, Carol Lynne McKinnon of Fayetteville, Audrey C. DiNardo and husband Dominick of Raeford, Tammie Knight and husband Patrick of the San Francisco Bay Area; grandchildren, Ja’Mauri T. Chumiso, Jarel S. McKinnon, Ja’Qai A. McKinnon, Dominick J. DiNardo, Gareth C. Knight and Genevieve L. Knight; great grandchildren, Ja’Mauri T. Chumiso ll, Milania G. Chumiso, Dominick Jamir DiNardo, and a host of relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held on November 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM, at New Beginnings Christian Church, 940 S. Reilly Road, Fayetteville, NC 28314 with Pastor Ronnie Moore officiating.

Burial will follow at Rockfish Memorial Park, 4017 Gillespie Street, Fayetteville NC 28306
