Peggy Jean Tyndall

Peggy Jean Warren Tyndall, 88, of Red Springs, NC entered into rest peacefully on October 30, 2025, with her family by her side.

Peggy was born on December 11, 1936, in Salemburg, NC to the late Samuel Houston Warren and Katie Dell Lockamy.

Peggy married her childhood sweetheart; Lt. Colonel Edward F. Tyndall and they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. She was a loyal military wife, moving frequently with Ed’s Air Force career and upon his retirement, they settled in Red Springs, NC, glad to return to their NC roots and to be back close to family and friends. They raised their five children and Peggy was devoted to her family and being a servant to others. She was a faithful volunteer in the First Baptist Church of Red Springs, teaching Sunday School and acting as Chairman of the Bereavement and Kitchen Committees. She was elected President of the Andrews Air Force Base Officers Wives Club in Clinton, MD and led for two years. She also was a tireless volunteer at her children’s schools, serving as PTA President at multiple schools and as a Room Mother too. With five children, that was a lot!

Peggy had a flair for fashion and was an accomplished seamstress, winning many 4-H competitions in high school for her clothing designs and construction. In 1977, she realized her dream of opening her own clothing boutique named The Ms Shoppe in Red Springs, NC and ran it successfully for two years. She only relinquished her dream when it took her away from her cherished family time.

Peggy and Ed also gave their time as volunteers in their community wherever they lived. Together, they were Co-Chairs of the Clinton, MD Boys and Girls Club for several years. Peggy also served as a Girl Scout Leader, was a member of the local Daughters of the American Revolution and was a longtime member of the Red Springs Dilettante Club. She truly had a heart for service.

Peggy will be remembered for her strong Christian faith, her beautiful smile, her quick wit, her delicious southern cooking, her love of athletics and her sports teams, especially the Carolina Tar Heels. She loved her Western movies too! Most of all, she will be remembered for her dedication to her family; her favorite role was being “Nannie” to her grandchildren and great grands. To her husband, Ed, she will always be his special “Blossom.”

In addition to her loving husband, Edward, she is survived by her five children, JoLynn Davis, James Tyndall (Becky), Beth Jackson, Susan Rowlett (John), and Melissa Farmer (Billy Joe.). She is also survived by ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 12-1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Red Springs with a Celebration of Life service following at 1:00 pm.
