With heavy hearts and profound respect, we share the news of the passing of Olga Lee Mashburn Vanaman, a beloved matriarch, cherished friend, and gentle spirit, who left this world on June 10, 2026 surrounded by family. Lee was born on April 24, 1934, in Anderson, South Carolina. Lee lived a life rich with love and compassion, a beacon of warmth for those fortunate enough to know her. Her life was a tapestry woven with threads of love, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe J.S. Mashburn, and her beloved daughter, Sandra Beth Carpenter, whose memories she cherished deeply until her last breath.
Along with her husband and daughter, Olga is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Murphy and Lottie Smith; son-in-law Michael W. Lyne; sisters Ola Kellett, Etrulia Murphy, Katherine Clinkscales, Willie Mae Little, and Doris Parker; and brother Robert Furman Murphy.
She is survived by her daughter, Camilla Lyne; and sisters Pauline Murphy Kay and Margaret Murphy McKinley, both of Anderson, SC. Lee was a proud grandmother to Roen Gremlock, Michael W. Lyne II, and Kendrick Carpenter, and a great-grandmother to Michael W. Lyne III, Kaladin Carpenter, and Marsail Carpenter; along with four great-great-grandchildren, Sofia, Monroe, Maeve, Isaiah, who were the joy of her life and the continuation of her loving legacy.
She cultivated beauty and warmth in the hearts of all who knew her. Her home was a sanctuary of love and acceptance, where she welcomed everyone with open arms, adopting many into her family. Her spirit left a mark on everyone who crossed her path. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared Lee’s life and legacy. They offer a special message to their beloved Lee: "Love you, Love you, Love you."
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 2, 2026 at LaFayette Memorial Park West, 6701 Raeford Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
