Michael John Decarter

Michael John Decarter, 62 of Fayetteville, NC passed away peacefully at his residence on February 26, 2024, after a battle with cancer.

He was born February 4,1963, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina to the late John and Shirley Decarter.

He was a devoted family man and loving life partner to Deenie Rafferty, her son Christopher and daughter Sarah.  He is survived by his sister, Valarie Decarter.

Mike was a hard worker his entire life serving in the US Army, CSX Railroad, Averitt Express and his ultimate passion serving alongside his firefighter family as a first responder with Pearce's Mill Fire Department. He was a good friend to many and always provided a helping hand when needed. He had a big caring heart and would always say, “don’t worry, it’ll be okay”! Mike had a vernacular for trains and recreating vintage model trains, classic fast cars, coins, ham radio communication, and curiosity with aviation. He will be deeply missed.

To honor Mike’s memory, a Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 PM on March 16, 2024 with family and friends at Pearce’s Mill Fire Department.
