Joe Albert Murphy Jr.

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we share the peaceful passing of LCpl Joe A. Murphy Jr., age 77, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, on January 1, 2026.

Mr. Murphy was a proud and honorable veteran, and we hold immense gratitude for his dedicated and courageous service to our country. His quiet dignity, sense of humor, strength, and reserved, military-focused outlook touched everyone who knew him.

He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Katina Graham of Raleigh, NC. His sisters—Mary Beard of Clinton, NC; Dorothy Freeman of Rosehill, NC; Vivian Faison (Larry) of Turkey, NC; and Joyce Murphy of Rosehill, NC—and brothers—Johnny Murphy of Rosehill, NC, and Leonard Murphy (Stella) of Clinton, NC—remember him with love. He was a caring grandfather to four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A walk-through visitation with an open casket will be held 2:00 PM-6:00 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2025 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.

There will be no formal funeral or memorial service; however, a private burial with military honors will take place at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery to honor his loyal service and sacrifice.

During this difficult time, our family sincerely thanks everyone for their love, support, and compassion during this time of loss.
