Ivan Allen James Jr.

Mr. Ivan Allen James, Jr., 64, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 in his home.

Ivan was born in Bronx, NY on September 25, 1956 to the late Ivan Allen James Sr. and Shirley Ann Newton James. Ivan was raised in Bronx, NY but spent his recent years in Fayetteville, NC. He attended Elementary School at PS 107, Middle School at IS 174 and High School at Adlai E. Stevenson, all in Bronx, NY. He had recently enrolled in Fayetteville Tech Culinary School. Ivan served in the United States Army and enjoyed a distinguished career serving in a multitude of positions both in the US and Germany. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Yvette James and Olivia Doborah James Flowers.

He is survived by his fiancé, Donna White of Parkin; former wife, Lorrain Kimble of Spring Lake; his children, Tomeka Ragin of PA, Taka A. James (Tywan Newell) of Garner, NC; siblings, Tara James of Atlanta, GA and Anthony Morrishow of Decatur, GA; grandchildren, Christopher Newell, Tytianna Newell, Emanuel Newell, Tristian Newell, Tristian Ragin, Kennissa Ragin, Christian Ragin, Jahanara Ragin; his uncle Russell Newton Jr; His Aunts Richardine (Deanie) Randall, Zenobia Gray, Ursula (Laverne) Newton, Veronica McNeal; child’s mother Debra Blackmon and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.

Burial with Military Honors will be 2:00 Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd Fayetteville, NC 28301.
