SSG Hector Aflleje Sabalboro (RET) age 62 of Hope Mills passed away Monday, July 28, 2025 in the Naval Hospital in Guam.
Hector was born in Asan, Guam on October 11, 1962, son to Roberto Faransisco Sabalboro and Dolores San Nicolas Aflleje. He served over 20 years in the US Army and retired in 2002. Hector was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
SSG Sabalboro received the following awards and decorations for his honorable and faithful service: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal, (4th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal, (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, (3rd Award), North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Egyptian Parachutist Badge and British Army Parachutist Wings.
Hector’s loving wife, Lynda Sabalboro preceded him in death in 2020 and he is survived by his children, Crystal, Logan, Andrew, and Jared; 4 grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
Burial with Full Military Honors will be 2:00 PM Friday, September 26, 2025 in Raeford Cemetery, East Central Avenue, Raeford, NC 28376.
There will a Celebration of Life at the family home after the burial.
