CSM Myrl Berthal Clinard

CSM Myrl Berthal Clinard (Ret.), 88 of Raeford passed away Thursday, July 16, 2026 in his home surrounded by his family.

Myrl was born in Rockdale, TX on August 3, 1937, son to the late William Wesley Clinard and Elsie English Clinard. CSM Clinard Medically retired from the US Army after 22 years of service. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

CSM Clinard received the following awards and decorations for his honorable and faithful service: National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Dom Rep), Master, Parachutist Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with Bronze Star (Korea), Good Conduct Medal (6 Awards).

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Clinard of the home; a son, Russell Clinard (Jamie) of Collettsville, NC; daughters, Panda Rowland (Bud) of Raeford, NC and Wendy Gillis (James) of Fayetteville, NC; 6 grandchildren, Randi Rowland, Creston Rowland IV, Damien Clinard, Jessica Clinard, Brandon Clinard and Caroline Gillis; 25 great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, July 19, 2026 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304 with Pastor Terry Dooley officiating.

Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in Raeford Cemetery, Central Avenue, Raeford, NC 28376.
