Corey James Gaines

*In Loving Memory of Corey J.**

October 20, 1973 – April 16, 2025

Corey J. was a gentle soul whose love knew no bounds. As large as his presence was, so was his heart—filled with kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family and community. Though he had no children of his own, he wholeheartedly embraced his nieces, nephews, and younger cousins, treating them with the same love and care as any parent would. His passion for nurturing young lives led him to dedicate much of his time to coaching football and basketball with Fayetteville Parks and Rec and the Team Impact organization, where he guided and uplifted countless young athletes.

Born on October 20, 1973, Corey was a blessing from the moment he entered this world, a beautiful soul who made an unforgettable impact on everyone he encountered. He graduated from 71st High School, where he played varsity football, before pursuing certification courses at FTCC for cable installation and Miller-Motte for cosmetology. Throughout his career, he worked across various industries, most recently in food services as a shift leader. His talents extended beyond his professional life—Corey had a deep passion for music, embracing its power to inspire and connect people.

Corey was baptized at Leach Springs Missionary Baptist Church on May 6, 2001, by Pastor Cannon. His faith, love, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

He is survived by his loving mother, Edna Molina; biological father, Linwood Kent; brothers Shannon (Michelle) Gaines, Michael (Brandy) Molina, Jonnathan Molina, Linwood Kent Jr., George Kent, and Dwayne Kent; sister Kimberly Kent; and nieces and nephews Shannon Jaylen Gaines, Cameron Gaines, Aniyah Molina, Marissa Williams, and Michael "MJ" Molina. He is also cherished by a host of extended family members and friends.

Corey is preceded in death by his father, Angel Molina; grandparents Edward and Roberta Gaines; and grandparents George Kent and Esther Owens.
