Allen ‟Al” Richard Callahan, 76, of Parkton passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025 in his home surrounded by his family.
Al was born in Morgan County, Kentucky on May 8, 1949, son to the late Ova Callahan and Sarah Elizabeth Ison Callahan. Al served in the United States Army and was discharged at Fort Bragg making his home in the Fayetteville Area. He started his own Plumbing business and served the area for over 50 years where he was known to be an honest and God-fearing man. Al was big on family and loved them very much, a devoted husband, father, and papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved fishing and would go every chance he could. Gospel Music especially Bluegrass Music was his passion and sang with several groups throughout his life. Al was a faithful member of Family Community Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. Al will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Glennville Callahan, Ova Buckner and Monroe Buckner.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah ‟Dee” Callahan of the home; a son, Richard Callahan and wife Charlene of Hope Mills; daughters, Tammy Coleman and husband Kyle, Amy Callahan, Kimberly Melissa Callahan-Boyd and husband Hershel, Jennifer Callahan-Vik and husband Josh, Sayla Merritt and Victoria Jackson; brothers, Vernon Callahan, Murvil Callahan and Mitch Buckner; sisters, Patty Callahan and Sandy Buckner; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 more due soon.
Visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday, November 20, 2025 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Roy Arrington officiating.
