Linda Susan (Headon) Dickerson

Mrs. Linda Susan Headon Dickerson died peacefully on February 4, 2018 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, North Carolina at the age of 69.  Linda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Linda was born on January 17, 1949 in Rochelle, Illinois to the late Gordon and Elizabeth Headon.  She attended grade school in Creston, Illinois and she graduated from high school in Dekalb, Illinois.  At a young age, she was dedicated into the Methodist Church of Creston, Illinois, where she was baptized.  After high school, she joined the US Army.  While enlisted, she met her soul mate Richard Curtis Dickerson, Sr.  They were united in marriage on September 10, 1973.

Linda went to work for the officer’s club as a hostess.  She loved to work with the military, and took pride in her job. Linda also worked for the KCA for over twenty years before her retirement.  She retired with numerous awards and recognition for a job well done. Even after retirement, Linda loved to cook and take care of her family. She was a devoted wife and mother.

She leaves to cherish her memory her Husband; Richard Dickerson, Sr., Sons; Richard Dickerson, Jr. (Pam), Kenneth Dickerson (Rhonda), Samual Dickerson (Sheila), and Richard Stroud (Siomara).  Daughters; Julie Knorr (Derek), Raiette Mainor (Raymond) and Ciera Dickerson.  One brother; Lyle Headon (Cynthia) as well as 18 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, February 12, 2018 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Main Post Chapel, Ft. Bragg, NC with Chaplain (CPT) Dawn Taylor officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 9:45 AM to depart to the All American gate to enter the base for the service at the Main Post Chapel.
