Artis Jackson Jr.

MSG Artis Jackson Jr. (US Army Retired), 79, passed peacefully on 13 March 2024. Born 25 August 1944 in Johnson County, Georgia, son to the late Artis Jackson Sr and Annie Lee Greagory. Destined to become a great leader, Mr. Jackson enlisted in the US Army on 16 October 1978 serving with the utmost distinction and honor for more than twenty years. MSG Jackson retired from active duty in 1998.

During his service MSG Jackson earned the following awards and decoration: National Defense Service Medal, Drill Sergeant Instructor Badge, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Vietnam Service Medal-8, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Army Good Conduct Medal 7, Army Commendation Medal 2, Bronze Star Medal.

MSG Jackson had the following Military Education; Basic Army Administration Course, Instructor Training Course, Drill Sergeant School, Noncommissioned Officer Writing Course   

Artis is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Erna Jackson, of the home; his Stepson Hans Schort; his stepdaughter, Evonny Schort; his brother, Shelton Jackson and wife Marie; sisters, Joycelyn Jackson, and Annie Thomas; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.
