SFC (Ret) Joseph Thomas (Tom) Biddle

SFC (Ret) Joseph Thomas “Tom” Biddle, 63, of Raeford passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017, at his home.  Tom was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Thelma, and his eldest daughter, Jennifer.

Tom was a true example of the word 'service', as he sacrificed his body and health for our country and his family, serving as a Paratrooper and Jumpmaster in the 82nd Airborne Division.  As the father of eight children, Tom single handedly provided for a family of ten while on active duty. After his military retirement, he continued working as a DoD contractor and truck driver. A Baltimore, Maryland native, he was taught blue collar work ethic by his parents, Francis and Thelma, at a young age. Tom’s jovial personality could light up a room as he kept his wittiness about him until the very end. He will be remembered by many as a hard worker and for his great sense of humor, but most of all for his love for people. Tom truly shined the light of Christ in this world and is able to rest peacefully now in the presence of our Lord and Savior.

Tom is survived by his Wife; Sylvia; Children; Erek, Anna-Lisa, Jonathan, Kristopher, Megan, Cortland, Sean, Luis, and Carlos Jimenez, Sisters; Mary Feigley, Karla Biddle, and Anita Bangs; Brother; Jack Biddle, and 18 grandchildren.

Tom will be so dearly missed by his loved ones, but his legacy and memories will live on with his family and friends as he rests with the Lord.

Visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 9701 Cliffdale Rd, Fayetteville, NC  28304 on this Sunday from 5:00 to 5:50 p.m. immediately followed by a funeral service from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Interment will be Wednesday, July 5th, at 12:00 noon at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery located at 8220 Bragg Blvd, Fort Bragg, NC 28310.
