MSGT Robert E. Hawkins, Retired

Robert (Bob) Hawkins, MSgt (Ret), 83, died Friday, March 17, 2017, at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  

MSgt Hawkins entered the Navy in 1951 and later served in the US Air Force and is a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War.  He was the recipient of the AF Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and UN Korean Service Medal.  MSgt Hawkins often quoted, ‟Freedom isn’t Free” and was a true believer in Duty, Honor, Country.  MSgt Hawkins was a loving person who loved his family and his county.

MSgt Hawkins is Survived by his spouse Lucille Lopez Hawkins; son, Jerry Hawkins; daughter, Renee Haugh and husband Glenn; daughter, Marci Berchiolli and husband Tom; grandchildren, Matthew Haugh and wife Melissa, Jennifer Shriver and husband Kirk, Erin Peters, Sierra Peters, Samantha Peters; 4 great grandchildren; and brothers Bruce Hawkins and Carroll Hawkins.  Also survived by his; step son, Michael Lopez and wife Julie, step son Steven  Lopez and wife Pilar, step daughter Karen Beatty and husband John, step son Mark Lopez and wife Theresa, step son Joseph Lopez and wife Angela.  

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 PM Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at LaFayette Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life service with Full Military Honors will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Lafayette Funeral Home.  

Burial will follow at a later date.

MSgt Hawkins was a great man who loved his family and he will be truly missed.
