Adriana Icelida (Meyers) Jackson

Adriana Icelda (June) Jackson, 92 years old, of Queens, New York, departed this world on May 24th 2016 in Fayetteville, North Carolina after a life well lived. She was preceded in death by her husband Osmond McCray, father Robert Myers and mother Gertrude Hutchinson.

Adriana was born in Jamaica, raised and educated in England along with her siblings. When first coming to America, Adriana worked as a paralegal and later decided to become an au pair. She was a creative person and loved to sew and do needlepoint. Her favorite past times were cooking, traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family. She was a woman that was loved by every person she met. She was the epitome of what kindness and grace is, she taught us all how to be better. We loved that she lived each day full of love and joy.

In 1963, while living in New York she met and later married Osmond McCray and together they raised 3 children. At an early age she received Christ in her life, she joined St John’s Episcopal Church in 1980 where she became a devout member. She served on the Altar Guild as well as several other boards.

She is survived by her brother and sister, Irving and Nellie of England, two sisters-in- law Nancy Phelps of Edenton, NC and Shirley Mandeville of Queens, NY; by her children Lonnie McCray of Bronx, New York; Jacquelyn Jones of Fayetteville, NC and Yvette McCray of Fayetteville, NC; nine grandchildren, Michael, Sharlyn, Ashley, Lonice, Christian, Malcolm, Adriana, Kory and Alexis, two great-grandchildren, Autumn, Leah. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at St. John’s Episcopal Church 137-67 Belknap Street Springfield Gardens, NY 11413-2619.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM following the visitation with Rev. Canon Jerrick F. Rayside presiding.

Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Gardens, 2030 Wellwood Ave Farmingdale, NY 11735.
